L'Albanie est un pays riche dans son histoire, dans son particularisme. Ancré sur le continent Européen, ce pays est peuplé de plus de trois millions d'habitants mais aussi fort d'une diaspora importante ce qui totalise huit millions d'albanophones dans le monde.

De sa capitale TIRANA, le gouvernement albanais exerce ses fonctions démocratiquement car l'Albanie est un état républicain, un état de droit mais aussi un état laïque. Le brusque passage d'un communisme extrême à la démocratie a entraîné quelques difficultés liées à l'apprentissage de la démocratie.

Aujourd'hui, les albanais sont exaltés de construire un pays européennement reconnu, à l'exemple d'Ismail KADARE, écrivain mondialement connu, mais aussi référence intellectuelle pour tous les albanais. Mère TERESA est l'image emblématique du pays, fierté morale et sans oublier SKENDERBEG, héros national qui a mis à mal l'Empire Ottoman. Fort de ces exemples, les albanais construisent leurs pays en multipliant les démarches notamment dans le domaine économique, car ce pays reste un pays en devenir.

Un bon nombre de compagnies européennes mais aussi américaines ont compris les possibilités qu'offrait cette république dont le développement est flagrant aux yeux de tous les visiteurs.

C'est dans cet esprit que le gouvernement albanais a souhaité nommer en France un Consul Honoraire à Toulouse dont la délégation géographique est Midi-Pyrénées, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence Côte d'Azur et Rhône-Alpes. Jean-Claude SENSEMAT, personnalité française du monde économique, qui connaît l'Albanie depuis 1987, il a été un témoin de l'histoire du pays, en organisant sous différents régimes des opérations d'import-export. Il a accompagné le gouvernement français et d'éminentes personnalités dans leurs voyages officiels à TIRANA. Il a rencontré bon nombre de personnalités albanaises.

La communauté albanaise du sud de la France a désormais un lien avec sa patrie. Les entrepreneurs français, face à cette nouvelle ouverture économique, pourront désormais obtenir une aide efficace auprès du Consulat Honoraire de la République d'Albanie à Toulouse.

ALBANIA: a Country in motion

Albania, a Country anchored on the European continent, is a nation rich in history and cultural heritage. The population is three million people, but due to a substantial diaspora there are now some eight million Albanian speakers worldwide.

The Albanian Government democratically leads the Country from its capital TIRANA. Albania is a Republic under the Rule of the Law and a secular State. The quick-paced change from an extreme form of communism to democracy was not without pain, as Albania had to serve its apprenticeship in its progress towards a democratic system.

Today, Albanians are euphoric with their commitment to build a Country recognized as a member of the community of European States, following the example set by Ismail KADARE, a famous writer well known all over the world and an intellectual beacon for all men and women in his Country. Mother TERESA is the very symbol of this Country and of its moral nobility; nor should anyone forget SKENDERBEG, Albania’s national hero who gave the Ottoman Empire a rough time. Taking pride in these examples, Albanians are now building their Country and are multiplying their efforts particularly in the economic sector, as it can well be said that this is still a Country in motion.

A significant number of companies, European as well as US, have been realizing the opportunities offered by this Republic, whose ongoing progress is immediately apparent to all visitors.

In this spirit, the Government of Albania decided to appoint a Honorary Consul in France, based in Toulouse. The geographic area of responsibility covers the Departments of Midi-Pyrénées, Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes. The new Consul, Mr Jean-Claude SENSEMAT, is a French businessman well known in economic circles, who is familiar with Albania since 1987 and witnessed the Country’s history in the course of his import-export operations under different political regimes. Mr. Jean-Claude SENSEMAT accompanied French Government members and outstanding personalities in their official missions to TIRANA, and is acquainted with a good number of Albanian personalities.

The Albanian community in Southern France can now benefit from a link to their homeland; French entrepreneurs, faced with this new economic opening, are now in a position to obtain the effective support of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Albania in Toulouse.
